Mateo Diaz

My name is Mateo Diaz. I am a marine naturalist and private boat operator based in Coconut Grove. I have spent over twelve years leading environmental tours and kayak excursions across the shallow flats of Biscayne Bay. My work involves introducing travelers to the complex habitats of the Florida keys and the sensitive mangrove estuaries that border metropolitan Miami.

This digital platform compiles my notes, observations, and local guidelines. Navigating the overlapping jurisdictions of federal national parks, state preserves, and county spaces is complicated. My goal is to organize this information clearly. I want visitors to understand where to go, how to pay parking fees correctly, and what safety rules to follow on the water.

When I am not operating my shallow-draft skiff, I lead volunteer beach cleanups during the annual Baynanza campaign. I also work with local research teams to monitor the health of sea turtle nests along Key Biscayne. The bay is a beautiful but fragile wilderness, and I write these guides to promote responsible visitor practices.
